PLANS for five log cabins to be built in woodland near Forton have been pushed back by months by council red tape.

The original application by Richard and Helen Gurd was highlighted by planning inspectorate Wendy Burden to have environmental benefits for their touring park and was recommended for approval by planning officer Stephen Belli.

Mrs Gurd said: "I think this could be a really positive project, but now this is costing us an absolute fortune and we have been put back by about three months.

"The site could be made subject of a woodland management programme which would provide for the replacement of lost trees and the establishment of new and more sustainable species."

But an appeal by Mr and Mrs Gurd against South Somerset District Council's decision to reject the application was dismissed by Mrs Burden on the grounds that they hadn't produced a section 106 agreement, ensuring the cabins would only be for holiday use.
