RNAS Culdrose Golf Club welcomed fairer weather on Sunday morning as two competitions were played at the club, the Scratch Shield and the Sid Hewer Trophy.

Andy Smith was on top form again in the Scratch Shield, having returned from the Naval Air Command Championships at China Fleet Club, scoring a gross 81, with Anthony Tonkin gaining a place on the previous week to finish second with a gross 82. Third place went to Bobby Stephens finishing two stokes behind the leader with a score of gross 83.

The Sid Hewer is a competition for the higher end handicappers, 18-28, and the winner was John Holt with a creditable net 68, two under par. Second place and two shots behind was Stuart Holt finishing with a par net 70.

This weekend's competition is the Stanley Oates, starting at 08:30.
