Silver anniversary celebrations were declared a steaming success this weekend as Mabe's 25th Steam-Up and Shindig went off with a bang.
The event was held over two days - Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday - and the decision appeared to have paid off. Mervyn Harrod, trade stands secretary, said: "It was absolutely brilliant. We had very good attendance - above expectations - and we had two thoroughly enjoyable and profitable days."
Attractions included the Portsmouth Sea Cadet Field Gun Crews on the Sunday and the South West Axe Racing Team, plus agility dogs, on the Monday.
There was also a fine display of steam engines, rollers, tractors and organs, demonstrations of traditional Cornish crafts and a magic display.
Refreshments included a pig roast on the Monday and a well-stocked beer tent.
Mr Harrod said: "It all went down a storm. Everything was very popular. From our point of view it was a complete success."
