An urgent meeting is expected to take place between Feock parish council and Carrick district council to discuss what has been described as "devastation" in the countryside by a local garden centre.

Parish clerk Alan Truan told councillors there were two outstanding retrospective planning applications for the Carnon Downs Garden Centre where the owner had effectively driven into open countryside without planning approval and these had still to be determined.

"There is now a further area devastated, 40x30 yards gone without approval," he said.

Carrick's enforcement officer had been officially notified of the parish council's complaint, but there were now nearly half a dozen complaints from residents as well as those from the authority. Yet two months later they faced a situation that was getting worse, he said.

Council chairman Alan Groves said matters were now quite urgent and serious enough to do something specific to make sure Carrick was listening to residents and the council.
