Times has run out on a grant worth over £400,000 which was earmarked for the regeneration of some major Bridgwater projects like Castle House and the Cornhill.
The Heritage Lottery Fund has refused to keep the cash available any longer, after a spending window - in which a set portion had to be invested - closed this week.
