TEACHING assistant Sue Watson, of Avishayes Primary School in Chard, visited 10 Downing Street and met Prime Minister Tony Blair at a special reception last week.
The event, attended by 200 people from all over the country, was in recognition of those who work in the wider school community.
Mrs Watson, a member of the Parents Teachers and Friends Association and a governor at the school, travelled to London last Monday.
The reception began with a speech by the Prime Minister, before he met guests, who were also allowed to have a look around the famous residence.
Sue said: "Going to Downing Street was an honour, but more than anything I was proud for Avishayes School.
There has been an assembly about Mrs Watson's trip and the children have made a display about her memorable night.
