CONTROVERSIAL plans to change Ilminster's Ditton Street into a one-way system will be discussed at a special South Somerset Area West Planning Committee meeting next Wednesday.
The proposal is linked to the application for a supermarket in Shudrick Lane, but the one-way plans have come under fire from the town's Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber president Bryan Ferriss, slammed the Highways Authority's recommendation of approval for the scheme.
He said: "Ilminster Chamber of Commerce is concerned that the district council will accept the recommendation, which the Chamber knows to be a narrow view which has failed to take into account the needs of townspeople, emergency services, public transport, taxis and businesses in the centre of town."
