SOMERSET Wildlife Trust is calling on people in Somerset to go green on June 5 in aid of World Environment Day.

A United Nations initiative, the day is aimed at making everyone think more about the future of our planet.

In the UK, the drive to boost recycling and cut waste is being led by the Environment Agency, which is asking the public to 'make a pledge' such as:

* Replacing light bulbs with energy saving versions, * Insulating lofts and hot water tanks, * Re-using plastic shopping bags, * Composting garden and food waste * Switching off TV and computer screens when not in use.
