Minehead is gearing up for the biggest VE-Day celebration since the end of the Second World War.
Events planned include a street party Minehead railway station, a procession of military and period vehicles through the town, wartime entertainment on the seafront and station, and a parade by the Royal British Legion led by Tiverton Town Band.
Some 100 local children, dressed as evacuees, are expected to arrive by steam train, recreating the day many local evacuees arrived in the town more than 60 years ago to escape German bombs in and around London.
The day, which is sure to bring memories flooding back for the real evacuees, many of whom have since copme back to the town to live, takes place on Saturday, June 18.
