HUNDREDS of people in Taunton Deane have signed a LibDem petition opposing controversial plans to sell off the area's council houses.
But Conservative-run Taunton Deane Council is going ahead with the costly transfer process, which is now expected to cost £175,000 more than originally estimated.
Meanwhile, LibDem Parliamentary hopeful Jeremy Browne has been gathering signatures and says there is still time for the plans to be halted.
"The council is now planning to spend more than half a million pounds on legal costs and propaganda to promote the sell-off," he said.
