WHATEVER the outcome of the semi-finals, the Cornwall County FA's Easter Monday Finals is guaranteed to have a "David v Goliath" Senior Cup final.
At last week's draw at the county FA headquarters, the Duchy's two "big guns", St Blazey and Bodmin Town, were drawn against each other which left Launceston and Torpoint to scrap it out for the opportunity of providing one of the biggest upsets in years.
However, the original fixturing of the games did not do Cornwall's county team manager Ray Nicholls any favours with the St Blazey v Bodmin game scheduled just two days before the crucial South West Counties Championship clash with Sussex.
The draw was released as Bodmin Town and St Blazey playing at Newquay on March 3, and Launceston and Torpoint playing at Liskeard's Lux Park on March 1.
However, the situation has been quickly rectified. Ray Nicholls, the county manager, said when he learned of the draw he contacted the county to point out his concern at playing the St Blazey v Bodmin game just two days before the make or break SW Counties Championship match with Sussex.
Mr Nicholls said: "When I learned of the draw on Saturday afternoon I wasn't happy that several players who would be in the Cornwall squad were required to play their semi-final just 48 hours before our must-win match against Sussex.
"I contacted the county officials requesting them to look into the matter and reverse the fixtures and I'm delighted that they quickly agreed to change the dates of the game".
