THERE has been plenty of speculation over the past couple of weeks, but Penryn Athletic have finally decided to part company with manager John Dent .
Following a meeting of the club's committee last week, a letter was subsequently sent to Mr Dent informing him of the decision.
Following a very promising start to the season, events on the pitch have not gone as planned with Athletic unable to win a league game since September 4 when they won 2-1 at Wadebridge Town. That run of results did not end until the first week in February when caretaker manager Mr David Jenkin took over following a suspension of Mr Dent implemented by the club.
Mr Dent was facing a 56-day suspension by the CCFA and that entailed a ban on all football-related activities and it was that that prompted the club to impose their own ban in the weeks leading up to its implementation.
The club was unwilling to go into specifici detail on the decision taken by the club committee. The president, Mr Ken Simmons, said they wanted to draw a line under the matter and move on, but added: "Following a meeting of the club's committee, a letter was sent to John informing him that it had been decided to terminate his position as manager of the Carlsberg SWL side.
"Since his time with us he has worked very hard for the club and we would like to thank him for his services".
