WITH reference to the front page of last week's Packet, I would like to challenge Mr Simmons. The kids in Camborne have nothing and nowhere to go, hence they, like all kids of a certain age, get bored and start mis-behaving, causing trouble, and once tarred with a brush they start believeing even if at heart they are not like that at all.

I wondered when Mr Simmons was a lad whether he had a local community or youth centre which he attended, on the cold dark evenings of winter, to kill his boredom, and also whether he's judging all kids on his own actions, knowing full well what he got up to.

I personally think as long as its marshalled properly and the bad eggs weeded out there shouldn't be any problems. Quite often you'll find it's certain establishments which serve alcohol to under-aged kids or certain people buying alcohol for those kids that are the route of the problems.

Mr Simmons, where do you propose they put the youth centre? Most of the kids in Camborne don't have cars to travel to outlying areas, and maybe if the council made sure those areas of concern are well lit and have security cameras then we might not have the problems.
