WITH reference to the story "Plans to tighten the belt of expenditure" (Packet, February 2), I was intrigued to see Mr Clayton's comments that Kerrier does not charge for car parking from October through to February, thus losing revenue.
Where does this happen? I have not been to a car park in the Redruth-Camborne area where you do not have to pay except over the Christmas week. Also, his statement concerning the harbour wall at Portreath. As a listed wall surely the council is duty bound to maintain the upkeep, as are other owners of such properties? I'm sure the council would be quick enough to jump on owners of such properties if they allowed them to fall below a certain standard.
If they do not have the funds for projects such as Portreath, maybe they should approach organisations such as English Heritage for funding.
