TRURO School sixth former Tom Swingewood has been selected for training with the England under-18 rugby squad.
The second row prop forward has joined the squad of 22 players who are preparing for internationals in March and April against Ireland at Cork, Wales at Neath and France at Bournemouth.
Tom played for England at Under-16 level two seasons ago, but unfortunately was injured for the final trial at under-18 last season. "He's fully fit again now, "said Truro School rugby coach Graham Whitmore, "and we wish him the best of luck in the national team set up."
Meanwhile fellow pupil Rachel Northover, 15, from Tresillian, has a place in the Potential England Camp for Netball. Rachel is currently a member of the West of England Netball Academy, which trains fortnightly in Truro.
The recent selection meeting at the University of Bath put here in competition with a 100 players, and she has won a place with a handful of others on the first rung of the England ladder with two weekend netball camps in April and July.
