St Agnes 4 Truro City 3

TRURO City emphasised their undoubted talent for performing heroics one week and following up with a completely opposite display a week later.

Having won away to Jolly's Combination League title favourites Goonhavern the previous week, City must have been confident of success at Enys Parc. However, by conceding two goals in the last ten minutes City turned what should have been victory at St Agnes into defeat.

"Once we had gone 3-2 ahead I couldn't see us losing the game," said manager Gary Pascoe. "We were in control and to be honest it was a question of how many we would score. They didn't look like they could do anything about it but two harmless balls into the box proved too much for our defence and we lost a game we should have won. I thought it was all pretty unreal.

"But when I thought about it, in virtually every game we have lost against teams below us in the league, we have lost after being in the lead with 20 minutes to go."

St Agnes got off to the best possible start when they took the lead after just two minutes when City failed to clear a James Thomas corner for Liam Heenan to score with a shot that hit the bar and bounced down over the line.

Within two minutes City were back on level terms when Shaun Halford got down the flank, crossed a ball, which deceived goalkeeper Symon Winnan, and dropped over the 'keeper's head and into the net.

Kayne Trevaskis caused St Agnes plenty of problems with his probing runs and several chances went begging with passes going across the face of the goal but there were no City players on hand to tuck the ball away.

The home side regained the lead in the 25th minute when City conceded a free kick. Collins launched the ball goalwards from the half-way line and it sailed over the head of goalkeeper Moody, who had come too far from his goal to collect the ball.

City had strong claims for a penalty turned down when Trevaskis was clearly brought down by Collins but nothing was given and St Agnes were fortunate to survive.
