TRURO CITY 1 MILLBROOK 2

TRURO City's supporters will be wondering how their side managed to throw away this Carlsberg SWL game after looking the likelier winners for most of the second half at Treyew Road.

They played against a strong wind in the first half and did well to go in at the break just a goal down but in the second half City quickly equalised and appeared to be the only winners until the visitors struck with two goals in injury time to snatch the points.

"We had to improve on our previous performance," said joint manager Les Gilbert. "We certainly did that. I thought we played with much more enthusiasm and looked the likelier winners but then they score two in the dying minutes that was totally against the run of play in the second half.

"We had them pinned back for most of the half, so I think even they will be flattered by the scoreline.

"Richard Crapp came in from the second team for his debut and did very well."

City almost snatched the lead in the second minute when Luke Wort got free in the box but his shot was well saved by Jason Chapman.

Four minutes later second placed Millbrook opened the scoring with a goal out of nothing from Andy Bowker. The former City striker proved the match winner by snapping up a hat-trick and his first came when he nicked the ball off Dean Harris before hitting a fine 25-yard shot past Andy Avery into the top corner of the net.

Millbrook had much the better of the half but found City's defence in resolute mood and despite the strong wind at their backs the visitors couldn't add to their one-goal lead.
