PEOPLES Palace A caused an upset this week by beating third placed St Ives A 9-1 in the West Cornwall Table Tennis League's premier division.
St Ives A were missing the prominence of John Bassett and Palace took full advantage cutting the gap between the two sides to just five points.
Falmouth Docks A drop down a place to fifth even though they recorded a 7-3 win over St Austell B.
St Ives B faced Penpol in the only game in Division One and hammered past them 10-0 to close the gap at the top to three points although with two games in hand Bridge B stay firmly on target for the title.
Palace F have soared clear at the top of division two after a 6-4 away win against promotion rivals Bridge C thanks to an Andy Cooper hat-trick.
A 10-0 win over Mylor B has moved them a healthy 16 points clear although the chasing sides do have games in hand.
Penryn College A picked up their second win of the season against Mylor Bridge C 6-4 whilst Harris Mill D also won 6-4 against the improving Cape Cornwall B.
Like counterparts Palace F, Palace G have also moved clear at the top of division three. After seeing off Penryn College C 10-0 Palace G then beat Palace J 7-3. Second placed Redruth C do have a game in hand, but with the two sides due to meet, the winner of that game could end up with the title.
