THE sounds of samba and the buzz of Notting Hill's legendary street parties could come to Truro later this year if the ambitious plans of the city's carnival team succeed.
A new project group called Truro Carnival - Colours of Cornwall launched its plans for Truro Carnival 2005 at a party, amid jugglers and town criers, on Truro's Lemon Quay, last Friday.
The plan is for this year's Truro event to be an all-day street festival from 11am to 11pm on Saturday September 10.
Malcolm Venn, secretary of the organising team said: "We are aiming for a Notting Hill type event. We are using the colours of Cornwall, its blue skies and green hills, as inspiration. The theme will be the county's heritage, coastline and environment."
