A CAMBORNE man has been honoured after clocking up 25 years working for the RAC motoring organisation.
Doug Willey, from Mount Pleasant Close, was presented with a gold watch by his employers at a ceremony at their headquarters in Pall Mall, London.
Mr Willey said: "It was absolutely smashing. I know that they have always given gold watches but I didn't know if they were going to this time. It was a bit of a surprise."
He has worked for the RAC since he was 30, after starting work in the motoring trade at the age of 15. Now 55, Mr Willey is a lead patrol member and is responsible for nine patrols in Cornwall, as well as attending to broken down vehicles.
"Every day is a challenge and I'm meeting people all day long. Some are more demanding than others but we get by that situation. I never feel depressed that I have to go to work," he said.
