THE contract to run the shoreside entertainment at this year's Falmouth Week has been put out to tender after the company set to run it failed to reach agreement with the organisers.

Flushing-based Wave Productions, run by Rob and Lucinda Rimmington, has been left out in the cold by the Port of Falmouth Sailing Association after negotiations broke down. They were originally lined up to run the entertainment on the Event's Square for three years.

This week PoFSA chairman Roger Hollingsworth said that negotiations between the two parties had broken down and the contract put out to tender.

"We have been in discussion with Wave Productions, but we haven't been able to reach the agreement we would like to and only felt it right the job should go out to tender," he said.

"We still have a good relationship with Wave Productions and they will be one of the parties bidding for the tender.

"We never had a three year contract with them. The original tender brief referred to the potential of a three year contract and what we said we would do would be to give them favoured status and that's exactly what they have had.

"They were invited to come back for this year but unfortunately we haven't been able to agree what we would like. It's important that we get the very best contract because it is a community event and it is very important for Falmouth.

"We put it out to tender so that everybody has a fair crack of the whip. It may well be that Wave Productions come up with the best proposal and get the job anyway."
