ABOUT 80 students, staff, student host families and their children spent Chinese New Year at Cloisters restaurant at Cornwall College.
Amidst a culturally diverse and enchanting atmosphere, students from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Brazil, Peru, France and Slovakia came together to celebrate the year of the Rooster and wish each other good fortune and happiness for the coming year.
Cornwall College International students study a range of courses including ESOL (English as a second or other language), English language, business, art, GCSEs and A-levels. All of the students who study on the ESOL programme are living and working permanently in Cornwall.
Particular stars of the night were You Jiang (Johnson), aged 20 and from China, who is studying for a graphic design National Diploma alongside his English lessons. Johnson used his incredible talent to design each sign of the Chinese zodiac in a unique and illustrative way, capturing the associated characteristics of each sign perfectly in every animal.
Dr Alan Stanhope, CEO, Cornwall College welcomed the guests.
