A HUSBAND and wife, both members of Carn Brea parish council, have resigned from the Liberal Democrat party in a row over huge salary increases for senior County Hall officials.
Peter and Diana Cousins said they were outraged to discover that Liberal Democrat county councillors in Cornwall were responsible for the pay increases, which were exposed by the Packet.
The rises were not only "immoral" but "obscene," Mr Cousins told the Packet this week.
The couple, from Station Road, Pool, who have been loyal Liberal Democrat supporters for 14 years, are also furious that the branch chairman, David Ekinsmyth, who they consider to be a possible candidate in the May county council elections for Illogan North, supported the review, which increased the salaries of senior officers but cut the pay of thousands of lower-paid staff.
