A Bridgwater church rich in history is now rich in restoration cash too after being awarded £77,000 to bring the building back to its former glory.
The Church of St John the Baptist is in desperate need of attention, but being a listed building makes it difficult and expensive to fund the extensive repair work.
After a rigorous site inspection by English Heritage, the princely sum has now been pledged to St John's and the building work is set to start in the coming months.
