ACTION to crack down on truancy at a Taunton secondary school is seeing results.
In Somerset County Council figures released last week The St Augustine of Canterbury School was shown as the worst offender in Taunton Deane.
The 524-pupil school in Priorswood had 2.4% unauthorised time taken off by pupils - double the national average.
But now the school is part of a new Government scheme to tackle truancy, including fixed penalties and fines, or a fast track to prosecution for parents who fail to send their youngsters to school.
