MULLION 0 TRURO CITY 3

THE scoreline suggests another clear-cut Jolly's Combination League win for Truro City at Clifden Park, but it was far from that.

Mullion were in this game throughout, but their inability to take their chances and put pressure on their opponents is becoming an all-too-familiar story.

City began well and put Mullion under pressure with Dominic Pullen having a header from a corner headed off the line by Phil James.

A goal wasn't long in coming and City took the lead after five minutes when a corner was cleared only as far as James Howman who knocked the ball back in for Matt Jose to head the ball back into the opposite corner of the net.

Apart from that early spell it was Mullion who did all the pressing with Wayne Briggs twice unlucky with good efforts that drew fine saves from James Moody.

The home side looked to have a good shout for a penalty when Ricky Smith was taken down in the box, but it was given outside and Briggs' free kick was superbly tipped round the post by the 'keeper.

Jason Robertson almost put Mullion in front when he went past two defenders and fired in a shot from 18 yards that Moody again tipped round the post.
