I WAS for about 30 years a Porthleven member of Helston borough council.
It is now a long time since councillors offered themselves for election on any council, simply because they felt they could give something to the community and not even consider making any claim, not even for their petrol. Now it seems they are only in it for the money.
I was very pleased to note that there are one or two who don't claim everything! Regretfully, only one or two.
I am, incidentally, now almost 82, and just hanging on. Only just.
