HOW I feel for those employees of British Fly Reels, to have to hand over their jobs to the Chinese and to have to train them in doing the job they have done so well for years.

Their American bosses should be ashamed of themselves, selling them down the river in such a manner. No doubt the name British Fly Reels will still be put on the product and they will be made in China! Do the powers that be realise the conditions in which their new employees work, and how little they will be paid just to line the pockets of their new owners?

Do they also know that in China a married couple are allowed to have only one child, and if they should have another, that poor babe is aborted by the State Law. Should they hide the fact that they have another babe, the parents can be sterilised and one or other put in prison for any number of years. God only knows what happens to the children?

Are we becoming a satellite of China? Most things I pick up these days are stamped "made in China." We were once a proud nation able to make goods in our towns and cities, from pottery to clothing, cutlery to furniture, to mention just a few of our products. Let's get back to seeing "made in Great Britain" on our goods.

Whilst I'm on the subject, many of our clothes are made in the sweat shops of Bangladesh, where women are paid ten pence a day for making dresses and clothing, which sell for up to £50 per garment in our shops.
