ST JUST 11pts FALMOUTH 13pts

Falmouth scraped a win against bottom side St Just last Saturday after a lackluster performance in this Cornwall and Devon League match.

The Chiefs' display in the first half was incoherent as they struggled to get out of their own half.

James Hood kicked a good penalty after two minutes to give the hosts a three point advantage and St Just kept applying pressure to Falmouth's back line, continually forcing the visitors onto the back foot.

Falmouth finally managed to break out of their own half, with Kelvin Dagg, Ashley Lawton and Liam Chapple all making penetrating runs to help the visitors forward.

But St Just were tackling powerfully to keep their opponents at bay, forcing Dagg to retire after damaging his shoulder.

Further pressure from Falmouth led to a penalty which Steve Larkins kicked after 29 minutes to level the score.

The game was starting to become a genuinely entertaining contest, so much so that the cows from the next field decided invade the pitch just to take a closer look.

However, when the match restarted it was St Just who were entertaining the crowd with superb scrummaging and forcing Falmouth back.

On the stroke of half time Paul Ringwood touched down in the corner to give St Just an 8-3 lead at the interval.
