CAMBORNE Music Festival went out with a bang last Saturday with one of the highest scores ever recorded.
During the afternoon on the final day, Jamie Pryce and Lisa Caddy, from Lanner, received 93 marks out of 100 for their vocal duet in the under 18 class, from adjudicator Robert Latham who is best known for his training of singers.
Malcolm Dearnley, the festival secretary, said: "We had a bit of a one-off. Obviously our adjudicator was a vocal specialist and he was over the moon with it. He thought it was fabulous. To get 93 in a vocal section is almost unheard of. It was very, very special indeed."
He said Mr Latham had been very impressed with the organisation of the festival and paid tribute to all the committee members.
The secretary added that they had worked their adjudicator very hard, as it was a very demanding job that had to be done properly.
Mr Dearnley said: "He was an excellent adjudicator. He put a lot back in. He goes a little step further often and has a little mini workshop. It's amazing how in five or ten minutes he can turn a moderate group of singers into a special group of singers. I think the competitors appreciated it. He was helping them improve."
