THE achievements of GCSE students at Helston Community College were celebrated at a presentation evening last Thursday.

An array of certificates and trophies were handed out by headteacher Dr Pat McGovern, standing in for local MP Andrew George, who had been due to present the awards but was unavoidably detained at the House of Commons.

Also attending the ceremony were Kerrier district council chairman Tony Bunce, Cornwall School Governors Council chairman Andrew Earle, Lieutenant Commander Alan Barnett, who presented the RNAS Culdrose engineering trophy, school governors, staff and scores of very proud parents.
