POLICE in and around the Yeovil area are reminding people that thieves do not take a festive break.
Thieves take advantage of the Christmas period to target people who may have forgotten to take simple crime reduction steps due to the frantic activities of the festive period.
People are being reminded to make sure their homes are secure and if they are out for the evening to consider using a timer light to make the house look occupied.
Shoppers are being urged to be wary of their surroundings, keep their wallets and bags safe and not to 'flash' their cash or mobile phones.
Car owners are being reminded not to leave any items on display in their vehicles even if they do not think its valuable as an opportunist thief will break in and steal it anyway.
They are also being urged to park in a well lit area and to consider using a steering lock.
