IT'S over for another year, and no-one could dispute the quality of the show - but there was more heartbreak for Bridgwater as the town's top Carnival clubs missed out on the top spot once again.
The pride of Bridgwater put on a truly breath-taking show with their dazzling 100ft-long carts, which took spectators on trips around the globe to Brazil and Egypt, and covered themes as diverse as war, pirates and clowns.
But despite wowing judges and crowds all around the county circuit - Carnival fortnight takes in trips to Bridgwater, Burnham, North Petherton, Wells, Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury and Weston - the county cup remained tantalisingly out of reach.
In the end, it was Gemini CC from Illminster who bagged the top prize with their incredible Pirates of the Caribbean tableaux cart, an imposing sea vessel crewed by seafaring scallywags and their ghostly foes.
