The Royal Navy amphibious assault ship HMS Albion is due home to Devonport on Thursday after an action-packed six weeks away.

Her deployment has included a 3,700 mile voyage to west Africa as well as Gibraltar.

After an exercise off the Hebrides she was diverted to Africa to act in support of the French evacuation of European nationals from the Ivory Coast.

HMS Albion arrival this week is a few days later than expected. She will undergo minor maintenance before putting to sea again in the new year.

On December 9, the vessel is due to be the venue for the BBC television programme Question Time.
