LENIENT magistrates took pity on a Minehead taxi driver who told magistrates he would lose his livelihood if he was banned.
Colin Bryant, aged 36, of Woodside, Woodcombe, Minehead, was caught driving at 57mph in a 30 mph area in Birchham Road in the town by police using a laser speed gun on the evening of July 24.
Bryant told the court: "I've been driving 17 years, but I did not realise the speed of my vehicle. I'll lose my livelihood if I'm disqualified." He said his current insurance premium of £2,500 would cost a fortune in future.
Magistrates imposed six penalty points on his licence and fined him £510. He was also ordered to pay £35 court costs.
