THE owner of a Milverton convenience store, which was attacked by an armed robber last Thursday evening, has praised the actions of his teenage shop assistant.
Russell Jenkins has spoken about how the 18-year-old woman, who he did not want to name, narrowly escaped serious injury when the robber, wielding a metal pole, struck at Milverton Stores.
The man demanded the cash, pulled out a foot-long silver bar and swung it at the woman's head. She ducked out the way before running to the back of the shop to get help as the man took £560 from the till.
Mr Jenkins said: "She did just the right thing."
