A BOGUS policeman has conned a Taunton pensioner out of £700 in cash.
The police have warned people to be on their guard against bogus callers after the incident last Wednesday.
The elderly victim was at home in Shutewater Close, Bishop's Hull, at 2.10pm when a man called at his door.
The offender said he was a plain clothes officer investigating counterfeit money which had been circulating locally, and asked if the man had any cash on his premises.
The victim handed over £700 despite being shown no ID or being given no receipt.
