FALMOUTH TOWN 3 RNAS CULDROSE 1

TWO wins in four days has pushed Falmouth Town into second place in the Jolly's Combination League, just five points behind leaders Goonhavern.

Against RNAS Culdrose on under floodlights on Tuesday evening there was little to choose between the sides in what was a scrappy match throughout.

The servicemen, who played with plenty of determination throughout, relied largely on the long-ball game and eventually it was a tactic that Town drifted into.

The opening half failed to produce any football of real note with the game punctuated by a series of niggling fouls and as a result neither side could settle into a pattern.

The only highlight was Town taking the lead in the 25th minute when a break by Matt Fox and Bobby Bryant saw the latter pull the ball back for Justin Miles to give the goalkeeper no chance with a terrific 25-yard shot.

Making changes at half-time didn't bring the hoped-for change in the pattern of the game for Town with the exchanges mirroring those of the first 45 minutes and neither side really troubling the goalkeepers.

On the hour - and as they had always threatened - Culdrose got back on level terms when a 25-yard shot left the unsight goakeeper no chance of keeping out a shot that rocketed into the top corner.

Gareth Harris made his first appearance for Town since undergoing a length suspension acquired at Perranwell and gave them different options on the flank, but it was the veteran Damien Stevens who opened up the space for Town to take the lead when he provdied the pass for Justin Miles to drill his shot low into the corner of the net.

Ten minutes from time Town wrapped up the points when Matt Pellow scored with a shot from 12 yards.

Town almost had a fourth, but Justin Miles' blistering 25-yard shot cannoned off a post.
