I WAS shocked to read in the Packet that Falmouth-Camborne MP Candy Atherton has called for Helston police officers to be moved to Camborne.

She obviously does not know that it took about one hour for the police to answer a 999 call on Saturday, October 16. Why, may you ask, were they so long in coming? They (our Helston police officers) were attending crimes in Camborne or Falmouth or Newquay, etc.

I had cause to attend Helston police station on Saturday, October 16, and found one police officer on duty. I asked why three police cars and one van were sitting outside the station when I had just been verbally abused and intimidated by vandals who were roaming around our house in Helston. The reply was "Sorry, no drivers available."

My heart goes out to all the police officers in Helston, who try to do their job with no support from MPs like Candy Atherton. She - correct me if I'm wrong - should be encouraging the government to put more cash into the police "pot." She should also be encouraging less paperwork and more police on the street.

On a brighter note I would like to thank the officer on desk duty - Roger Bush, of Helston. He had to deal with my complaint and I was very upset and very angry.
