TRURO would have hoped to have got something from this game to maintain their promotion push in South West Two, but it wasn't to be as the home side finished deserving winners.

On a windswept pitch Exmouth appeared to adapt better to the conditions and with an under-par performance by the city club grabbed two vital points to haul themselves away from the foot of the table.

Fortunately for Truro, the defeat was not too damaging as league leaders Berry Hill were beaten at Camborne and Coney Hill were beaten by Cleve, Saturday's visitors to St Clements Hill.

The league is proving a very tight one to call with Truro in fourth place, but only two points behind Camborne. In fact, the first seven clubs are separated by just four points, so any number of sides could be involved in the promotion dogfight.

Truro, who began with the same side that so effectively disposed of Gordon League the week before, put Exmouth under early pressure and although Scott Martin missed a penalty attempt in the fifth minute he successfully put his side in front with another kick just five minutes later.
