REDRUTH 33pts READING 10pts

REDRUTH chalked up another home league victory with an emphatic performance against Reading.

Player/coach James Lancaster was playing his last home league match for the Reds who leap up to fifth place in the table following this victory.

If the Reds can win away to Dings Crusaders on Saturday they could be in the top three. Barking lead with North Walsham in second place and both are still unbeaten in league fixtures.

Lancaster got a big cheer when the Reds took the field playing to towards the scoreboard end.

The Reds went ahead in the third minute, referee Richard Parker-Sedgemoor awarding a penalty that Scrivener sent between the uprights.

In the next 10 minutes Scrivener had added two more penalty awards for a nine point deserved lead.

Reading showed their colours when a drive by the pack in the now quite wet conditions set up a try for skipper and flanker Graham Sparks, but fly-half Alex Wallace missed with the conversion kick.

On the half hour the Reds scored a try when good play by forwards and backs with Richards to the front, supported by the other outsides, created the scored by Scrivener which he just failed to convert. His 14 contribution takes his points haul to 46.

Sam Heard came on for Damien Cook, in the forwards.

In first- half injury time Bonds looked over, but winger Rowlands made the stop tackle.
