ONE of the county's best-known sportsmen, Jeremy Williams, of Falmouth, reached a personal milestone on October 16 when he played for Cornwall's table tennis team.

Jeremy, 40, who plays for the Falmouth Docks Table Tennis Club, reached the amazing target of 150 caps for the Duchy when he played against Avon.

Cornwall's most capped player helped his side to a 7-3 victory and it put the icing on the cake for an amazing career that began when he first turned out for Falmouth Docks when just nine years old and Cornwall when he was 16.

Not surprisingly, with father Dennis, himself an all-round sportsman and one of the county's top players and coaches, Jeremy is the current Cornish singles champion, a title he has held on 12 occasions.

Despite an extremely talented and blossoming crop of youngsters now playing on the circuit, Jeremy will no doubt set his sights on the all-time county record of 13 singles titles.

That would be a fitting achievement for such a dedicated player.
