IN this very tense and close encounter Penryn extended their unbroken run of home league wins to 32, but it was touch and go right up to the last minute of the game.

The selected team showed one change with Willie Ongoongo taking over from Jon Wright at tighthead prop.

Right from the kick-off the Borough went on the attack and forward pressure gave them a try in the fifth minute when the pack drove over the line and Phil Wells, returning after work commitments had kept him out of the side for several weeks, scored the try.

But the initial Penryn advantage began to fail as the big Bridgwater pack started to get on top with visiting fly half Andrew George landing a penalty after the Borough were picked up for a ruck infringement. Then disaster struck as the Borough were given two yellow cards within a minute and were down to 13 men. From the second infringement Andrew George gave "Bridgy" a one-point lead with his second penalty goal and it was looking very bad for Penryn.

The visitors continued to press with Borough defending strongly, but the pressure eventually told as a penalty try was awarded for an infringement. George had no difficulty with the conversion in front of the posts and Borough were adrift by eight points.
