EUROPE'S biggest ram sale was the occasion for the Devon-based Quick family to continue their successful run. Paul Quick, who farms near Crediton with his parents, Bill and Marion, and brothers Andrew and Mark, won the breed championship at the NSA Wales and Borders Ram Sale with a shearling ram, Beltonfield Janitor. The shearling was purchased by Paul at last year's sale.
Another of their rams made 3,000 guineas at this year's event. The family had the first and reserve at the show last year and also had the world record price of 120,000 guineas for a shearling ram at Carlisle last year. Paul was presented with a crystal goblet by Alan Symonds of Somerset-based Symtag.
