HEAVY rain and high winds at the weekend bought down trees and caused some localised flooding but worse is forecast for Wednesday.
The rain caused flooding on the A390 at St Austell and on the A39 between Truro and Falmouth.
The met office is warning of severe weather with severe gales and heavy rain for the south west of England, the biggest storm of the year so far, with gusts of up to 70 to 80mph.
It is expecting a very deep depression to come close in to the southwest of England on Wednesday, bringing an area of very strong winds in its circulation as it sweeps rain across the whole of the UK.
Gusts of 70 to 80 mph are possible, enough to bring down trees and cause disruption to road, rail and sea transport. Read the forecast via the Packet web-site.
