Taunton Amateur Boxing Club star Courtney Thomas is turning professional.
The current Western Counties welterweight champion has been granted a professional licence and will make his debut in the paid ranks in about three weeks.
Thomas, 26, is a carpet fitter and will continue in his day job, although he would eventually like to become a full-time professional.
He has had 83 amateur bouts, winning 63, and trains in his own gym at the bottom of his dad's garden in Taunton every night.
Thomas will be based in Bristol where he expects to have his first fight.
