A MASSIVE petition calling for a Taunton post office to be saved has been sent to the chief executive of supermarket giant Tesco.
Taunton's LibDem parliamentary spokesman, Jeremy Browne, and local councillors Hazel Prior-Sankey and Fran Smith collected almost 1,000 signatures outside the One Stop shop in Lisieux Way.
As revealed in the Somerset County Gazette, the in-store post office is threatened with closure when the company takes over the shop later this year.
Mr Browne said: "The Lisieux Way post office is one of the most successful in Taunton. It provides a vital community service, especially for elderly or disabled people who will struggle if they have to travel further afield."
