SERIOUS concerns were expressed by campaigners this week that Hinkley Point could become a permanent dumping ground for radioactive waste.

Stop Hinkley campaigners claimed the plan would mean thousands of tonnes of 'intermediate waste' being dumped on West Somerset's doorstep.

But there were mixed reactions among residents to plans to build a giant waste storage building at the nuclear power station site.

The facilities are part of a decommissioning process at Hinkley Point 'A' station that started in December 2001.
