BURNHAM sands is leaving other resorts standing in the shade after being named one of the best beaches in the country.
The coastal town is the fifth best beach out of 171 in the UK and kicked off its summer season at the Easter holiday weekend.
Thousands of holidaymakers, both young and old, will visit the seven mile stretch of sands this year, which is also number one of beach safety in the south west.
