ORGANISERS of a long-running pre-school in Yeovil are looking for new premises - or they might be forced to scrap the vital community amenity.

The Old Barn Pre-School has met at the Old Barn Community Centre in Plantagenet Chase for the past 16 years and hundreds of tiny tots have made their first steps into education through the group.

But now the pre-school has been served notice to move out by the end of July and now organisers are fearful the much-needed facility may be lost.

Pre-school secretary Nicola Margetts said: "We are desperately looking for alternative premises, but we are running out of ideas.

"There are plenty of places on the other side of town, but we need something in this area. Many of the mothers do not drive and we can't expect them to go across town.

"It would be a huge shame if the pre-school had to close because it has been going for so long and proved so important to the local community.

"We would like to hear from anyone who might be able to suggest a new home for us."

The pre-school would need a decent sized area and storage space for all of its equipment.

They have enlisted the support of Yeovil MP David Laws who has written to the local education authority and South Somerset District Council asking for help.
